Tiny but beautiful, Sikkim is situated in the Eastern Himalayas, Spread below the Mount Kanchendzonga (8,534 mts.), the third highest mountain peak in the world. Bhraman, April 13
Khardung La, a mountain pass on the Ladakh Range lies north of Leh and is the gateway to the Shyok and Nubra valleys. This is 2nd highest (someone says third) motor able pass of the World which is also used to carry supplies to the Siachen Glacier. In May, 2012 we, a team of five members went to this forbidden land and were simply amazed throughout the trip. Satkosia Tiger Reserve is a tiger reserve located in the Angul district of Odisha, India. The tiger reserve is located in the Eastern Highlands moist deciduous forests ecoregion. The major plant communities are mixed deciduous forests including Sal, and riverine forest. Living root bridges are a form of tree shaping common in the southern part of the Northeast Indian state of Meghalaya. They are handmade from the aerial roots of Rubber by the Khasi and Jaintia peoples.The process can take up to 15 years to complete. Gorkhey, a beautiful valley in the border of West Bengal and Sikkim. 18 km from Phalut, a nice valley. Two river Gorkhey khola (river stream) and Rammam make confluence in this nice valley. The song of vibrant colored Himalayan birds, milky flow of Gorkhey & Rammam and the deep-dense pine forest covered the village. No mobile tower, no electricity …only nature. The Varsey or Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary is situated in Western Sikkim in Singalila Range forming a natural border with Nepal in The West. From Hilley to Varsey is only 4 km trek, beautiful undulated path shaded by different species of rhododendron. The rhododendrons bloom only during months of March and April.
